this is the current version of the trade district office.  the banner hanging features a swallow and a gear- the insignia of eastshire. 
the swallow was a nod to chinese folklore and nautical culture, as it appears in both.  in chinese folklore, swallows are associated with family and grace.  in nautical culture, swallows are associated with loyalty and always finding a way back to land. 
the gear is a reference to eastshire's history as an industrial city, though the way i draw it makes it look more like a compass.
the general architecture of eastshire is largely inspired by ancient chinese buildings horrifically mashed with "the cape cod house" style.  i drew a few houses like this as a joke, and then ended up liking the look.  I don't really know where the pillars came from, but they look cool.
