redesign sketches and color
i have a tendency to slap a trench coat onto a character and call it done. I didn't want this to be the case with reprisal, the dramatic, boisterous, lovable side antagonist.
I asked my friend to offer some character design wisdom, and boy did she deliver.
gone is the half-assed dora-the-explorer color palette. gone is the awkwardly draped shawl-and-khakis combo. we have ourselves a cowgirl now.
Gosh don't her colors clash horribly with the depressing blue of the rest of the game?
on tieflings and copyright issues
these are earlier versions of reprisal. in a lot of fantasy settings, a "half demon" race is pretty common. in dungeons and dragons, they're called "tieflings", but since i want to avoid copyright madness with hasbro and wizards of the coast, i'll probably be calling them "half demons".
reprisal is a radical, passion-driven leader of a crime syndicate looking to overthrow the existing, neglectful government.
while writing older versions of the d&D campaign, i was having trouble making characters to fill in the ranks of the "bad guys". reprisal was created to be a side character, but became more plot relevant over time.
